Do you find yourself…
overly proccupied with what others think
unsure why you feel stuck or down
feeling guilty or confused about your feelings towards your family
finding yourself having bigger reactions to things than you feel appropriate
suffering from a significant loss, whether of a loved one or a relationship
I help people who feel stuck in anxiety, depression, and grief feel move through these feelings to a new place of peace and empowerment.
I believe many of our difficulties stem from unmet needs in our earliest relationships. This is not to cast blame, but to help us understand why we continue to struggle in particular ways. Many of us lack the assurance that we are enough and can take on the challenges of living in this world because we did not have enough support early in life to develop a healthy sense of self-trust.
In order to develop a healthy sense of self, children need:
to be seen for who they are, not who their parents want them to be
to have their needs and feelings responded to consistently with care, not dismissed, ignored, or minimized
consistent emotional engagement that tells them they matter
help regulating their intense emotions from an adult who can regulate their own
apologies that let them know their sense of harm was accurate and that they are worthy of relational repair
Many well-intentioned parents, for whatever reason, may have been too emotionally immature or overwhelmed to provide the support their children needed. Because of this deficit you may have patterns that keep you from getting your needs met. Together we can explore why certain things impact you the way they do and the beliefs that may keep you in repetitive cycles.
